Increase. Reproduce. Layer.
While all these words mean "to make greater," to multiply implies an increase by natural generation or by indefinite repetition of a process. In this case we are talking about multiple exposures in film photography.
And it's true that when you repeat exposures on a single frame you can make an image greater.
Lots of people have claimed double or multiple exposure photography to be over; dead. Well, as long as a language is being spoken it's still alive, and multiple exposure photography is a beautiful language you can speak to communicate unique concepts, thoughts and feelings that you might otherwise struggle to convey in a single frame.
Instagram friends from all over the world have been messaging me for years asking for a multiple exposure workshop online, and until now, I haven't been able to wrap my head around how to approach it.
But after running Film Club six times in 2023 and 2024 I've realized there is a way, and here it is.

What to Expect:
- We will start with a detailed questionnaire emailed to you as soon as you sign up. Questionnaires are due 1 week before the first class.
- Once we have a full class we will try to pick 3 dates that work for everyone in Feb, March and April.
- In our first class we will get to know each other a little, share our goals, hopes and dreams! Our first lesson and any film/camera questions are welcome during the class.
- I will follow up that class with personalized film lessons for each of you. You'll have 1 month to shoot your assignment, have it developed, scanned and emailed to me.
- Our 2nd & 3rd classes will be spent going over the results from our assignments! Don't fret -- this kind of group critique is SO HELPFUL and inspiring.
- Lastly, expect to be happily surprised by how exciting and inspiring shooting multiples can be!
Fine Print:
- A 50% deposit is due at the time of booking.
- Payment is due in full by the first class.
- Non-refundable, but you can transfer to someone else for the same spot, in the same class.
